High Definition scanning in colour

We can create 3D renderings with visually rich and highly accurate colour. Most digital cameras capture 3 colour channels: red, green, and blue. Our state of the art High Definition scanners use a precisely calibrated colour wheel to capture 7 colour channels, providing 3X more accurate colour. There is no skew between the colour and geometry.

Surface 3D Scan Uses

Your scan data is captured as a set of XYZ points which are then converted into a mesh surface comprised of triangles. This surface can have any texture applied to it, including the photographic colour image (see note above) of the object's surface that we can capture synchronously during scanning. We use Rapidform's advanced mesh generator which provides smoothing, intelligent curvature-based hole-filing and smart variable density decimation to provide a fully-healed, watertight mesh model. Our models are suitable for direct output to 3D printers.

Export file types

We can export your scan data to other systems using a wide variety of output formats including STL, OBJ, U3D, VRML, XYZ points, and more.

Printing

3D models built from scan data can be printed out on a variety of 3D printers from Dimension, ZCorp, 3D Systems and other vendors. These printers create actual physical models of your part in plastic or similar materials, and are very useful in making duplicates or testing your parts. To be printable, a 3D model file must comprise a fully healed watertight mesh. Essentially, this means that the mesh of triangles describing the surface must not overlap, and that all the surfaces that make up the solid model must be closed without perforations in them. The 3D mesh model files we produce can be sent directly to popular 3D printers without the need for further processing.
